Drum Legends > Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl first came to prominence as the drummer for the grunge rock band Nirvana in the early 1990's. Following the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain in 1994 Dave established his own solo project The Foo Fighters in 1995 -writing the songs, singing and playing all the instruments on the self titled debut album.
Dave formed a band around the album and after some early line-up changes Taylor Hawkins became the touring drummer for the band in 1997.
Dave's drumming roots are very evident in the way he writes songs with rhythmic guitar lines and time signature variations aplenty. For a classic Dave Grohl drumming track check out 'Everlong' by the Foos.
